About BabySage

Baby Care Specialists

While practicing as a pediatric Occupational Therapist, Christina was finding that the families she was working with often had a variety of general questions about raising their baby. In discussions with these parents, it became clearer how difficult it was for parents to find evidence-based answers to their questions. There weren’t any resources that could provide specific answers that matched their family situation. This gap in service led to the creation of BabySage.

What's in the name?

The name “BabySage” represents our mission to create a credible resource in navigating the complex journey of parenting, offering insight, knowledge and a sense of community into the development of a baby. The phonetic duality of ‘baby’s age’ and ‘baby sage’ connects to the developmental milestones and the wisdom to help guide parents through them.

Why the Elephants?

Elephants raise their young as a herd in a community surrounded by love. They are one of the most intelligent animals and their brains are very similar to humans in terms of connectivity as well as having very strong family ties and bonds.

When a new calf is born, the herd gathers around to help and support and calves are sometimes raised and cared for communally, a phenomenon which is called ‘alloparenting’. This represents our vision of all parents having the support and knowledge they need to raise their baby.

In the logo you see an adult elephant with a baby in the negative space, caressing the adult’s leg. The heart coming from the trunk of the adult shows the love, nourishment and care that parents provide their new babies throughout their life.
